The Department of Physical Science and Faculty Career Guidance Cell of the Faculty of Applied Science at Trincomalee Campus, Eastern University, Sri Lanka, proudly initiated a Robotic Competition dedicated to Line Following Robots. The competition was held on November 29, 2023, at the Electronics Laboratory of the Department of Physical Science
The competition was conducted after three-days workshop held from November 6-8, 2023 that promoted the basic knowledge, design and development of line following robots, and contributed to sparking interest among the second-year undergraduates of the Department of Physical Science.
The competition aimed to cultivate the creativity and imagination of the participants. The event featured a diverse range of robotic challenges, from autonomous navigation tasks to intricate obstacle courses to test the participant’s strategic thinking and technical prowess.
During the competition, the arena was filled with staff and undergraduates of the Trincomalee Campus from various disciplines to witnessed the brilliance of automation and the spirit of innovation among the participants. The teams from second-year undergraduates (participants) showcased their robotic creations, each varying for supremacy in categories such as agility, precision, and overall performance.
The judges evaluated the robots based on various criteria including speed, accuracy, ability to overcome obstacles or challenges within the course, innovation, and adaptability.
The “Robotic Competition” not only celebrated technological achievements but also provide a platform for enthusiasts to exchange ideas, share knowledge and fostered a sense of community among robotics enthusiasts.
The winners were awarded for their outstanding contributions, inspiring the audience and to continue pushing the boundaries of what robots can achieve.
